I fancied myself a writer in one form or another most of my life. Compositions and essays in school. Poetry and journals in my personal life. It seemed I wrote every day. And, I wasn’t lacking in the imagination department either.

In the Spring of 2016, I came across a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) and enrolled on impulse. I had no idea what these were or what I was in for. I had enrolled in the Creative Writing Specialization at Coursera and my entire life changed.

The courses opened my eyes to the world of writing – the knowledge available at our fingertips to be had and shared. I’m proud to be a founding member of the Coursera Critique Group. We will be publishing our 2017 Anthology of Short Stories this summer.

The other thing I learned from the courses and communities is how much pleasure I get helping other writers overcome motivational issues, or improve their story because of something I taught them. I Mentor in Coursera’s Creative Writing Specialization because I have an overwhelming desire to teach tips and techniques. I’m a Group Leader to over 150  people on Scribophile for the same reason. I help people improve their writing. And, they trust me to do that. Along the way, I write a thing or two…

  • 2017 Anthology of Short Stories (from graduates of Coursera and Wesleyan University’s Creative Writing Specialization) – Tentative summer launch date
  • Songbird  by Charlene Gibb (currently completing first draft…long way to go.) – Very tentative launch date of 15 November 2017

Our writer’s journey can be a difficult one. Let’s not go it alone.

I live in Toronto, Canada with my hubby who I adore and our two suckhole cats, Chloee and Phoebe. I have two sons 29 and 24, and a daughter who is 20. They are the reason – for everything. I have a sister who I love without limits. I’m happiest when I’m surrounded by family. It gets harder as the kids get older, but somehow we find the time. Those days matter the most.
